The 4th annual golf tournament to honor friend and brother Sgt. Henry J. Gagnon III will be held starting at 10 a.m. at Mill Valley Golf Links in Belchertown. Hardwick FarmersÕ Market presents childrenÕs historic games at The Hardwick FarmersÕ Market will be held from 12Ð2 p.m. Franklyn Cyran, a costumed interpreter from Sturbridge Village, will bring examples of activities that were popular during the 1830s. Hoops, rings, and balls will be some of the items that can be enjoyed by kids (and adults) on the common. The games are co-sponsored by the Hardwick Historical Society. The Hardwick FarmersÕ Market will also welcome Bill and Sue BowlesÕ team of Fjord draft horses as they offer wagon rides around the common.
SPENCER-BASED BAND ÒCLASS REUNIONÓ will perform your favorite oldies classic rock songs from the 1960s era for free on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18 during the annual OctoberFest celebration at Hyland Orchards & Brewery on Arnold Road in Sturbridge under the large pavilion area. Ed the Wizard will be bring his program, "Reading is Magic," to the Gilbertville Public Library in Gilbertville on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. Ed the Wizard's 45-minute performance is chock full of audience participation, so come prepared to be part of the entertainment. Using many volunteers, he weaves reading and magic together along with laughter using a bit of comedy and suspense. With reading as the emphasis behind each magical performance, Ed the Wizard encourages folks of all ages that reading is indeed the key to his, and to their success.
